The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Primary Industries and Regional Services,
chaired by FranBailey, MP, will hold a public hearing on Monday, 18 October in
Canberra, as part of its inquiry into primary producer access to gene technology.
The committee is examining the capacity of Australian farmers to access the benefits of
gene technology and the future value and importance of genetically modified varieties.
Representatives from the following organisations will give evidence at the public hearing:
- Cotton Research and Development Corporation
- CSIRO
- Australian Cotton Growers' Research Association
- Australian Cotton Industry Council
- Australian Cotton Co-operative Research Centre
- Monsanto
- Cotton Seed Distributors
The hearing will take place in Committee Room 2R1,
Parliament House, from 9.15 a.m. to 12.15 p.m.
