The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Primary Industries and Regional
Services, chaired by FranBailey, MP, will hold its first public hearing on
Tuesday 27July, as part of its inquiry into primary producer access to gene technology.
The committee will be examining the capacity of Australian farmers to access the benefits
of gene technology and the future value and importance of genetically modified varieties.
Representatives from the following organisations will give evidence at the public hearing:
- Western Australian Government;
- Western Australian State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre;
- Centre for Legumes in Mediterranean Agriculture;
and legislation, in relation to genetically modified organisms; and
The hearing will take place in the Blackburne Room, Holiday Inn, 201
Hay Street, Perth from 8.30 a.m to 10.00a.m.
