In October 2000 the Treaties Committee sought submissions on the purpose and/or content of the 1998 Statute of the International Criminal Court.
Further, on 30 August 2001 the Attorney-General referred exposure drafts of the International Criminal Court Bill 2001 and the International Criminal Court (Consequential Provisions) Bill 2001 to the Treaties Committee.
The Committee considered the scope and potential impact of these bills as part of its review of whether it is in Australia's national interest to ratify the International Criminal Court Statute.
