COMMITTEE IN VICTORIA TO INVESTIGATE CATCHMENT PROBLEMS
The Commonwealth House of Representatives Environment and Heritage committee
will visit Victoria next week and will hold a public hearing for its inquiry
into catchment management on Tuesday, 2 May, in Melbourne.
The committee's catchment management inquiry is looking at issues such
as the best way to involve the Commonwealth, state and local governments,
the private sector and the community in catchment management.
While in Victoria the committee will be visiting Shepparton and Kerang
to talk to people involved in catchment management.
At the public hearing the committee will be taking evidence from representatives
of the Victorian state agencies involved in catchment management, water
authorities, researchers and individuals with particular expertise and
experience in catchment management.
The public hearing will commence at 9.00 a.m. at the Conference
Room on level 8, 35 Spring Street. More details of the hearing
