Organisations to Comment on Public Building Access for People with Disabilities Public hearing in Melbourne on 30 March 2009
The House Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee will hear from the Victorian Human Rights Commission, the Tourism and Transport Forum, access consultants and disability discrimination legal groups as part of its inquiry into disabled access to public buildings.
The Committee Chair, Mr Mark Dreyfus, QC MP said “The Committee held a very informative and successful public hearing in Sydney. We are now looking forward to hearing the views of Victorian-based organisations on the Draft Premises Standards.”
“The Committee expects to receive over 100 submissions to its Inquiry and while most are supportive of the Standards, there are clearly some areas that people feel can be improved,” he added.
