The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Primary Industries and Regional
Services, chaired by FranBailey, MP, will hold a public hearing on Monday, 30August
in Canberra, as part of its inquiry into primary producer access to gene technology.
The committee is examining the capacity of Australian farmers to access the benefits
of gene technology and the future value and importance of genetically modified varieties.
Representatives from the following organisations will give evidence at the
public hearing.
- CSIRO
- National Farmers' Federation
- Australian Food and Grocery Council
- Grains Council of Australia
- Grains Research & Development Corporation
The hearing will take place in Committee Room 1R4, Parliament House,
from 9.00 a.m to 12.15 p.m.
