Examination of annual reports within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio

On 21 March 2002, the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade resolved to examine the 2000-2001 annual reports from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade).

The examination began with a public hearing in Canberra on Tuesday 21 May 2002. At this hearing the Foreign Affairs Sub-Committee took evidence from government officials on various matters arising from these annual reports.

The Sub-Committee is currently reviewing the evidence and preparing a report for presentation to the Parliament.
