Selection of Bills Committee

Report No. 9 of 2024

The Senate adopted the report. The recommendations of the report were agreed to as amended, on Thursday, 22 August 2024.

  1. The committee met in private session on Wednesday, 21 August 2024 at 7.10 pm.
  2. The committee recommends that—
    1. the Housing Investment Probity Bill 2024 be referred immediately to the Economics Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 4 October 2024 (see appendix 1 for a statement of reasons for referral).
  3. The committee recommends that the following bills not be referred to committees:
    • Better and Fairer Schools (Information Management) Bill 2024
    • Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Amendment (Protecting Vulnerable Workers) Bill 2024
    • Paid Parental Leave Amendment (Adding Superannuation for a More Secure Retirement) Bill 2024.
  4. The committee deferred consideration of the following bills to its next meeting:
