TERMS OF REFERENCE
The decision by the Board of Airservices Australia to purchase the
Precision Aerial Delivery System (PADS) manufactured by SAR Pty Ltd.
CONDUCT OF THE INQUIRY
The terms of reference were referred to the Committee on 5 December
1996 for inquiry and report on 12 December 1996. On 12 December 1996, the Committee was
granted an extension of time to report to 25 February 1997. On 25 February 1997 the
Committee was granted an extension of time to report to 20 March 1997, and on 19 March
1997 the Committee was granted an extension of time to report to 26 March 1997.
Two submissions were received (Appendix 1). The
Committee held two public hearings, both in Canberra (9 December 1996
and 14 February 1997). A list of witnesses is given in Appendix
2.
