Interim Report
Pursuant to Senate Standing Order 38(7), I present to you the interim report of the Senate Standing Committee on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport on its inquiry into the implementation, operation and administration of legislation underpinning carbon sink forests.
The Senate referred the matter to committee on 26 June 2008 for inquiry and report by 22 August 2008.
The committee held public hearings in Canberra on Thursday 24 July 2008 and in Brisbane on Monday 18 August 2008 and heard evidence from a range of witnesses. The committee has received 60 submissions.
To allow for the consideration of evidence provided at those hearings the committee will present its final report no later than Thursday 28 August 2008.
