Inquiry into the Aviation Legislation Amendment (2007 Measures No.1) Bill 2007
Information about the Inquiry
On 21 June 2007, the Senate referred the
provisions of the above Bill to the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and
Transport Committee for inquiry and report by 30 July 2007.
The bill amends the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004 to
provide for regulations to prohibit activities which disrupt or interfere
with the operations of a security controlled airport or aircraft, expand
the powers of Australian Customs officers at airports and exempt certain
dignitaries from aviation security screening. The bill amends the Civil
Aviation Act 1988 to provide for the introduction of a mandatory drug
and alcohol regime in the civil aviation industry.
Lodging submissions
Submissions are called for by 11 July 2007. Submissions become
Committee documents and are only made public after a decision by the
Committee. Unauthorised release of submissions is not covered by
