Inquiry into the Wheat Export Marketing Bill 2008 and Wheat Export Marketing (Repeal and Consequential Amendments) Bill 2008
Information about the Inquiry
The Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Standing Committee
is inquiring in to the provisions of the Wheat Export Marketing Bill 2008
and the Wheat Export Marketing (Repeal and Consequential Amendments) Bill
2008. The bills provide for the establishment of a statutory entity, Wheat
Exports Australia, to regulate the export of bulk wheat from Australia
through a wheat export accreditation scheme.
Submissions should be lodged by 4 April 2008. If you are unable to make
a submission by this date please telephone the committee secretariat on
(02) 6277 3511 or email rrat.sen@aph.gov.au. The Committee is due to report by 24 April 2008 and proposes to hold
hearings in late March and early April.

Submissions become Committee documents and are made public
only after a decision by the Committee. Persons making submissions must
not release them without the approval of the Committee. Submissions are
covered by parliamentary privilege but the unauthorised release of them is
not.
