LEGAL AND CONSTITUTIONAL AFFAIRS LEGISLATION COMMITTEE

17 July 2014

Inquiry into the Independent National Security Legislation Monitor Repeal Bill 2014 [Provisions]

On 27 March 2014, the Senate, pursuant to a recommendation of the Selection of Bills Committee, referred the provisions of the Independent National Security Legislation Monitor Repeal Bill 2014 (the bill) to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee (the committee) for inquiry and report by 2 June 2014.

The committee presented an interim report on 27 May 2014. On 16 June 2014, the Senate extended the reporting date for the inquiry to 19 August 2014.

On 17 July 2014, the bill was discharged from the House of Representatives Notice Paper. For this reason, the committee has resolved that it will not pursue its inquiry and presents this report.
