Inquiry into the provisions of the Water Act 2007
Interim Report
Pursuant to standing order 38(7), I present an interim report of the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs References Committee's inquiry into the provisions of the Water Act 2007.
The Senate referred this inquiry to the committee on 9 February 2011, for report by 11 May 2011. On 11 May 2011, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 6 June 2011.
The committee received 100 submissions for the inquiry; and a public hearing was held in Canberra on 18 May 2011.
The committee requires additional time to ensure that the issues raised during the inquiry are thoroughly considered and appropriately addressed, and intends to present its final report by 10 June 2011.
