FINANCIAL SECTOR LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL (NO. 1) 2000

Public Hearing
14 AUGUST 2000

On Monday 14 August, in Canberra, the Senate Select Committee on Superannuation and Financial Services will be holding its second Public Hearing into the provisions of the Financial Sector Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 2000 in respect of proposed changes to the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (SIS Act).

The Committee will be taking evidence from the regulators (APRA, ASIC and the ATO) and representatives from government bodies including the Treasury and Attorney-General’s Department.

The Committee is inquiring into proposed changes relating to enforcement powers and offence provisions as they apply to a trustee, custodian or investment manager of a superannuation fund and to the application of the Criminal Code to the SIS Act.
