FINANCIAL SECTOR LEGISLATION AMENDMENT BILL (NO. 1) 2000

Public Hearing
11 JULY 2000

The Senate Select Committee on Superannuation and Financial Services will be holding a Public Hearing in Sydney into the provisions of the Financial Sector Legislation Amendment Bill (No. 1) 2000 in respect of proposed changes to the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act 1993 (SIS Act).

The Committee is inquiring into proposed changes relating to enforcement powers and offence provisions as they apply to a trustee, custodian or investment manager of a superannuation fund and to the application of the Criminal Code to the SIS Act.

The Committee has invited representatives from peak superannuation industry bodies, service providers and consumer advocates to give evidence at the hearing which will be held at the Commonwealth Offices, Level 11, Charterbridge House, 70 Phillip Street, Sydney.
