Exposure Drafts of Australian Privacy Amendment Legislation

Information about the Inquiry

On 24 June 2010 the Senate referred the following for inquiry and report by 6 October 2011:

                Exposure Drafts of Australian Privacy Amendment Legislation.

Further, the Senate agreed that in undertaking this inquiry the committee may consider the exposure draft of the Australian Privacy Principles and the draft companion guides on the Australian privacy reforms and any other relevant documents tabled in the Senate or presented to the President by a senator when the Senate is not sitting.

* This inquiry lapsed prior to the commencement of the new Parliament. On 30 September 2010, the Senate agreed to the Committee's recommendation that the inquiry be re-adopted in the 43rd Parliament with a final reporting date of 30 September 2011.

Part 1 – Australian Privacy Principles

The Committee is continuing to receive submissions addressing issues in relation to the Exposure Draft of the Australian Privacy Principles. Tabling date to be advised.

Part 2 – Credit Reporting

Submissions should be received by Thursday 24 March 2011. Tabling date to be advised.
  
The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted online  or sent by email to  fpa.sen@aph.gov.au as an attached PDF or MS Word document. The email must include full postal address and contact details.
