1.1        This committee's report sets out the key facts concerning the late tabling of the Indigenous Land Corporation’s annual report. Those facts are worthy of further comment.

1.2        Interference by a Minister in the contents of the annual report of an independent statutory body in the manner suggested by the ILC Board Briefing Paper of 18 January 2018 is contrary to proper practice, and contrary to the Minister's legal responsibilities.  The statements by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs do not do enough to explain away the contents of that briefing paper, or allay Labor Senators' concerns.

1.3        The circumstances surrounding the production and tabling of the ILC's 2014‑15 report raise serious matters of propriety. Labor Senators believe there are more questions for the Minister to answer.
