Information about the Inquiry
The Senate has referred
the provisions of the Australian Technical Colleges (Flexibility in
Achieving Australia’s Skills Needs) Amendment Bill (No. 2) 2007 to the
Senate Standing Committee on Employment,
Workplace Relations and Education for report by 7 August 2007.
The purpose of the bill is to amend the
financial assistance table under subsection 18(4) of the Act to increase
funding for 2008 and 2009 and provide additional funding for 2010 and
2011. The increased funding will support the establishment of a further
three Australian Technical Colleges. The total funding appropriated under
the Act will increase from $456.2 million to $530.9 over the period 2005
to 2011.
