Information about the inquiry
The
provisions of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation
Amendment Bill 2006 have been referred to the Senate Employment, Workplace
Relations and Education Legislation Committee for report by 10 May. The
bill provides for, among other things, extended powers for ANSTO to allow
it to advise other Commonwealth agencies, and those within state and
territory jurisdictions, on the management and storage of radioactive
materials. The bill will also allow ANSTO to manage and store radioactive
materials which have been returned to Australia after reprocessing abroad.
Submissions from interested parties are invited and should be emailed to the Secretary by Friday
21 April 2006.
