Amendments to the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Act

The Senate has referred the provisions of the Indigenous Education (Targeted Assistance) Amendment (Cape York Measures) Bill 2007 to the Senate Standing Committee on Employment, Workplace Relations and Education for report by 5 September 2007.

The purpose of this bill is to appropriate an additional $2 million over the 2008 program year to support the expansion of Making Up for Lost Time in Literacy (MULTILIT) and the Student Education Trusts in the communities of Coen, Hope Vale, Aurukun and Mossman Gorge in the Cape York region of Queensland.

Submissions are due by 27 August 2007 and can be emailed to eet.sen@aph.gov.au.
