Public hearing
The committee has been asked by the Senate to examine
these bills in the light of current provisions in the
Workplace Relations Act, and similar provisions in such legislation as the
Administrative Appeals Tribunal Act, and, in the case of the Compliance Bill,
the punitive provisions which are proposed.
These bills were referred to the committee on 20 August 2003.
A tabling date is yet to be determined. The committee invites individuals
and organisations wishing to express views on these bills to lodge written submissions, including full postal and
contact details by 12 September 2003 extended to 10 October 2003.

Bill 2002
This bill, introduced in June 2002, with debate adjourned since then, was
referred to the Senate Employment, Workplace Relations and Education
Legislation Committee on 17 September 2003.
The committee has been asked by the Senate to examine
this proposed legislation, and it has been agreed by the committee to deal
with it concurrently with the Workplace Relations
Amendment (Compliance with Court and Tribunal Orders) Bill 2003 and the
Workplace Relations Amendment (Codifying Contempt Offences) Bill 2003. The
reference of these bills was advertised earlier.
Supplementary submissions dealing with this bill are
due by 10 October 2003. It has been agreed that should a public hearing be
required to deal with the three bills referred, this will take place on 17
October. It is expected that the committee will report on 30 October 2003.
