The Committee has noted that both Bills reflect draft recommendations from the Productivity Commission's draft report on Gambling released on 21 October 2009. The Productivity Commission's inquiry is still in progress with the Commission currently conducting public hearings to discuss the draft report. Submissions on the draft report are due by 18 December 2009 and the final report is due to be presented to Government on 26 February 2010.

The Committee has agreed not to proceed with the inquiry into the Bills until the Productivity Commission's final report is publicly released, when it will determine if further consideration is necessary.
