Summary

Part of a package of 10 bills in relation to the establishment of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA), the bill: makes consequential amendments to 19 Acts and the Financial Management and Accountability Regulations 1997, including replacing existing references to the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) and the Australian Communications Authority (ACA) with references to the ACMA; and contains transitional provisions dealing with: the transfer of assets and liabilities of the ABA and the ACA, and the continuing operation of certain instruments and proceedings. Also repeals the Australian Communications Authority Act 1997.
