Summary

Amends the:

National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009
to: establish a mandatory comprehensive credit reporting regime to apply from 1 July 2018; and expand the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s powers so it can monitor compliance with the regime; and
Privacy Act 1988
to impose additional requirements as to where and how data held by a credit reporting body must be stored.
