Summary

Amends the

Protection of the Sea (Prevention of Pollution from Ships) Act 1983
to implement amendments to the Annexes to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships by: imposing restrictions on the discharge of sewage from passenger ships in special areas; revising requirements relating to the disposal by ships of garbage at sea; making the Energy Efficiency Design and the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan mandatory for certain ships of 400 gross tonnage that are engaged in international trade; and clarifying the application of federal jurisdiction in certain parts of the territorial sea. Also repeals the
Stevedoring Levy (Imposition) Act 1998
and
Stevedoring Levy (Collection) Act 1998
