Summary

Introduced with the Fisheries Levy Amendment Bill 2007, the bill amends the

Fisheries Administration Act 1991
,
Fisheries Management Act 1991
,
Surveillance Devices Act 2004
and
Torres Strait Fisheries Act 1984
in relation to: delegation powers of the minister and the Torres Strait Protected Zone Joint Authority; management of Australia’s rights and obligations under the Torres Strait Treaty; output controls and fisheries management practices; consistency with other legislative regimes; compliance, forfeiture and enforcement procedures; the role and functions of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA); and transition of the AFMA from an authority to a commission.
