Summary

Introduced with the Law Enforcement Integrity Commissioner Bill 2006, the bill makes amendments consequential on the establishment of the Office of the Integrity Commissioner and the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) to 17 Acts to: provide ACLEI investigators with access to special investigative powers, including the capacity to use telecommunications interception, surveillance devices, controlled deliveries and assumed identities; and provide the Integrity Commissioner and the ACLEI with access to certain confidential information; and amends the

Ombudsman Act 1976
to clarify the relationship between the functions of the Ombudsman and the Integrity Commissioner.
