Summary

Amends the:

Social Security Act 1991
and
Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986
to exclude from income tests any payments for national socialist persecution;
Excise Act 1901

Fringe Benefits Tax Assessment Act 1986

Income Tax Assessment Act 1936
,
Products Grants and Benefits Administration Act 2000

Social Security Act 1991

Social Security (Administration) Act 1999
and
Taxation Administration Act 1953
to allow access by Centrelink to new data sources relating to taxation;
Financial Transaction Reports Act 1988
to allow access by Centrelink and the Child Support Agency to new data sources relating to financial transactions;

Social Security (Administration) Act 1999
in relation to the operation of the Assurance of Support Scheme;
A New Tax System (Family Assistance) (Administration) Act 1999

to allow payments to be suspended if recipients temporarily travelling overseas do not notify Centrelink of their departure;

to allow full recovery of any overpayments as a result of a foreign pension lump sum payment in arrears;
A New Tax System (Family Assistance) Act 1999

Social Security Act 1991
to reduce the allowable period of temporary overseas absences for certain payments from 26 weeks to 13 weeks. Also makes minor technical corrections, including to the
Family and Community Services Legislation Amendment (Australians Working Together and other 2001 Budget Measures) Act 2003
and the
Family and Community Services Legislation Amendment (Special Benefit Activity Test) Act 2002
, and contains application and transitional provisions.
