Inquiry into Amendments to the Australian Protective Service Amendment Bill 2003

On Tuesday 9 September 2003, the Senate referred the provisions of the Bill to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee for inquiry and report on 7 October 2003.

This inquiry is subsequent to the Committee's previous consideration in July/August 2003 of the Australian Protective Service Amendment Bill 2003, and relates to subsequent Government amendments. The proposed amendments primarily seek to confer the same stop and search powers on Australian Federal Police Officers as is proposed to be conferred on Australian Protective Service officers by the original Bill.
