Inquiry into Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Bill 2023 [Provisions] and Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety (Transitional Provisions) Bill 2023 [Provisions]

On 16 November 2023, the Senate referred the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Bill 2023 [Provisions] and Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety (Transitional Provisions) Bill 2023 [Provisions] to the Senate Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Legislation Committee.

To date the committee has received 41 submissions and conducted two hearings on 13 March and 4 April 2024. The committee is seeking to hold an additional hearing with a key witness in the week of 22 April 2024.

The committee therefore requests an extension of time for the final report until 13 May 2024 to allow it to consider all evidence and conclude its deliberations.
