On 5 August 2021, the Senate referred the Treasury Laws Amendment (2021 Measures No. 5) Bill 2021 to the Senate Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 20 August 2021. On 20 August 2021, the committee requested an extension of time to report by 27 August 2021 and this request was granted by the Senate on 23 August 2021.

The committee requests a further extension of time to report until 30 August 2021 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
