On 9 March 2023, the Senate referred an inquiry into the provisions of the Treasury Laws Amendment (2023 Measures No. 1) Bill for inquiry and report by 26 May 2023.

The committee is still conducting its inquiry and requests an extension of time to report until 2 June 2023 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
