The Parliamentary Leadership Taskforce met on 10 October 2023.
The Taskforce welcomed the commencement of the new statutory Parliamentary Workplace Support Service (PWSS) on 1 October 2023 and that the Acting CEO of the PWSS has released a statement on the range of services and support offered by the PWSS. The Taskforce noted that the recruitment process for the PWSS CEO and Advisory Board members is underway with job advertisements to be released shortly.
The Taskforce continued discussions on the design of the proposed Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission to inform the development of legislation. Members noted progress on work health and safety matters outlined in Recommendation 25, including that opportunities for consultation on proposed changes will be advertised to staff.
Taskforce members also welcomed the completion of Set the Standard recommendation 10, following the completed reviews into the respective standing orders of the House of Representatives and the Senate. Members noted that the House Procedure Committee made several recommendations which are subject to ongoing consideration.
