- Review of the Cyber Security Legislative Package 2024
The Committee is reviewing the Cyber Security Bill 2024, the Intelligence Services and Other Legislation Amendment (Cyber Security) Bill 2024 and the Security of Critical Infrastructure and Other Legislation Amendment (Enhanced Response and Prevention) Bill 2024.
The Cyber Security Legislative Package 2024 intends to implement seven initiatives under the 2023-2030 Australian Cyber Security Strategy, which aims to address legislative gaps to bring Australia in line with international best practice and help ensure Australia is on track to become a global leader in cyber security.
- Review of Administration and Expenditure No.23 (2023–24) – Australian Intelligence Agencies
The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security is required under paragraph 29(1)(a) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 to conduct an annual review of the administration, expenditure and financial statements of ASIO, ASIS, AGO, DIO, ASD and ONI.
Submissions are requested by Friday, 29 November 2024.

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security is required under Section 29(1)(a) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001, to conduct an annual review of the administration, expenditure and financial statements of ASIO, ASIS, AGO, DIO, ASD and ONI.
Submissions are requested by 24 November 2023.
- Review of Division 3 of Part III of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979
In accordance with paragraph 29(1)(ce) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 the Committee has commenced an inquiry into the operation, effectiveness and implications of Division 3 of Part III of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation Act 1979 which relates to the Organisation’s compulsory questioning powers.
- Review of the Intelligence Services Legislation Amendment Bill 2023
The Committee is reviewing the Intelligence Services Legislation Amendment Bill 2023. The Bill would amend the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security Act 1986 and the Intelligence Services Act 2001 to expand the jurisdiction of the Inspector-General of Intelligence and Security and this Committee to include oversight of additional agencies, provide for this Committee to conduct own motion inquiries into counter-terrorism and national security legislation, and provide for additional briefing arrangements.
- Review of post-sentence terrorism orders: Division 105A of the Criminal Code Act 1995
The Committee is required under section 29(bbaaa) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001 to review the operation, effectiveness and implications of Division 105A of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Criminal Code) and any other provision of the Criminal Code as it relates to that Division.
- Review of the Migration Amendment (Clarifying International Obligations for Removal) Act 2021
As required by paragraph 29(1)(cf) of the Intelligence Services Act 2001, the Committee is reviewing the operation, effectiveness and implications of the amendments made to the Migration Act 1958 by Schedule 1 of the Migration Amendment (Clarifying International Obligations for Removal) Act 2021.
