Shareholders of a corporation do not continue to pay the travel expenses of ex-employees, and similarly Australian taxpayers should not be continually dipping into their incomes to pay the travel expenses of politicians who no longer contribute to the running of the country. Politician's superannuation payouts are more than sufficient to keep them in an exotic lifestyle, with some negotiating multi-million retirement deals whilst working as politicians. One could argue that using taxpayer funded time to negotiate these deals would make these deals the property of the Australian taxpayer, and all profits should thus be returned to Treasury. Australia cannot afford to run this gravey train for the benefit of a few, whilst pushing the majority into poverty. Also whilst the Australian dollar has dived so dramatically over the past 20 years, it could be assumed that all politicians have failed in their duty to strengthen the Australian economy.
