Australian Parliament House is excited to present a new private tour program featuring exclusive industry rates. 

Designed to represent the character of Australia, its people and our democratic spirit, this iconic building is best experienced with one of our knowledgeable tour guides.

Every private tour is suitable for all ages and provides an opportunity to understand our nation’s history, symbolic architecture, contemporary art, democracy, and the working parliament.

Best of Parliament House

Discover the must-see highlights within Parliament House from the towering flagpole to the Great Hall Tapestry, the architecture, the Chambers of the Senate and House of Representatives, art and craft, history and events, and some hidden surprises.

Note: 25-minute version will visit either the House of Representatives or Senate Chambers.


Architecture of Parliament House

Explore the design of Parliament House with an in-depth tour about the symbolic aspects and vision of the building's architect. As we explore the design of the Marble Foyer, Great Hall, Members’ Hall and the Chambers of Parliament, you will discover how each space upholds the symbolic design of Australian Parliament House.

Prime Ministers' Portrait

Come face to face with the history of Australia’s Prime Ministers on a guided tour of highlights from the Historic Memorials Collection, the nation’s longest running commissioning art program.

Discover insights into Australia’s political leaders and artists, and explore changes in the history of portraiture in Australia. You will see well-known portraits including William Dargie's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, Ivor Hele's portrait of Robert Menzies and Clifton Pugh’s portrait of Gough Whitlam.


Signature experiences

Signature Tour: Lite

Capture the democratic spirit of the nation with exclusive access to the private areas of this international award-winning building. Be inspired by the symbolic architecture, rich art collection and visit the corridors of power to understand how the parliament shapes the nations democratic past, present and future.

Guests will visit behind the scenes functions that support Parliament every day including private courtyards, and the press gallery.

This exclusive tour will unveil the unique vision for the award-winning building by principal architect Romaldo Giurgola and the design team of Mitchell/Giurgola and Thorp Architects.

Inclusions: Expertly hosted talks and tours, exclusive access to private areas including the press gallery and courtyards.


Catering is not included.
 


Signature Tour


Enjoy once-in-a-lifetime, behind-the-scenes access to Australian Parliament House. Discover exclusive locations and rarely seen private, official, and ceremonial spaces throughout the building. Be refreshed with a contemporary twist on a traditional high tea.

This exclusive tour will also unveil the unique vision for the award-winning building by principal architect Romaldo Giurgola and the design team of Mitchell/Giurgola and Thorp Architects.

Inclusions: Expertly hosted talks and tours; exclusive access to private areas including the press gallery and courtyards, high tea service with your choice of alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages.

Multiple groups
Please note large groups with more than 40 people will be split into multiple tours that will run concurrently.

Catering options
If your group would like to book a catering option, please include this in your request. Catering options will be separately quoted and do not include trade discounts.

Rate validity
Rates are valid until 31 March 2025.

Free of Charge (FOC) Policy
FOC policy applies to group bookings only. For every 20pax booked, 1 FOC tour will be provided for a tour leader or guide.

Child rates
Children aged 4 or under are free, excluding Signature Tour packages.

Payment
Payment is required in full at least 7 days before your visit. Payment must be made by credit card. We will send you an online payment link via email.

GST
All rates are inclusive of GST.

Cancellations
If you cancel your booking more than 72 hours before your visit, we will give you a 100% refund.

If you cancel your booking less than 72 before your visit, we will give you a 50% refund.

Conditions
As the building is a working Parliament, tour routes and inclusions may change at short notice. We will do our best to offer an equivalent alternative program if changes are required.
