On 13 August 2018, the Senate referred Telecommunications Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 to the Senate Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 31 August 2018.

The committee requests an extension of time to report until Monday, 10 September 2018 to allow it to fully consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.

About this inquiry

This Bill would amend the National Broadband Network Companies Act 2011 to create a new tower access regime for towers owned or operated by NBN corporations. It would also allow the Minister for Communications to specify certain temporary telecommunications towers as low-impact facilities in certain circumstances.
