Inquiries and Reports

Inquiries and Reports

Reports on the Parliamentary Papers series

The Senate Standing Committee on Publications makes recommendations to the Senate on which documents that have been presented to the Parliament (and on which the House or the Senate has not already made a determination) should be ordered to be printed (ie, included in the Parliamentary Papers series). The Senate may accept the committee's recommendations by passing a motion that the committee's report be adopted. The committee's reports are reproduced in full in the Journals of the Senate.

Joint Committee on Publications inquiries and reports

Each House of the Parliament has a Publications Committee which has the power to confer with each other. In practice, most meetings are joint meetings of the two committees. When meeting jointly, the committees are known as the Joint Committee on Publications. The joint committee has the power to inquire into and report on the printing, publication and distribution of parliamentary and government publications and on such matters as are referred to it by the relevant minister. A list of these inquiries and reports are available on the Joint Committee on Publications page.
