2.113The Committee recommends that the Australian Government develop a legislative framework to establish a trade advisory committee and cleared advisor system, informed by the United States model.

3.21The Committee recommends that the Australian Government consider codifying the practice of publishing information outlining negotiation aims, objectives and expected costs and benefits for all future trade and investment agreement negotiations in legislation.

3.22The Committee recommends that the Australian Government consider adopting a practice in the negotiation of trade and investment agreements to provide greater transparency and information to stakeholders and the public, at a minimum of the equivalent to the information provided by the counterparty.

4.51The Committee recommends that the Australian Government be required to regularly brief the relevant parliamentary committees on the status and progress of current and potential future trade and investment agreements.

5.16The Committee recommends that the Australian Government undertake independent reviews of trade and investment agreements to be held five years after the agreement comes into force, and at regular intervals thereafter, which are to be tabled in Parliament.
