Review of the re-listing of Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and the listing of Neo-Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (Neo-JMB) as terrorist organisations under the Criminal Code

On 16 June 2021, the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (the Committee) commenced a review of the regulations re-listing Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and listing Neo-Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (Neo-JMB) as terrorist organisations under the Criminal Code Act 1995.

Section 102.1A of the Criminal Code Act 1995 provides that the Committee may review a regulation which lists an organisation as a terrorist organisation and report its comments and recommendations to each House of the Parliament before the end of the applicable disallowance period for the House. The disallowance period is 15 sitting days from the day the regulation is tabled.
