Strategic themes

Our purpose is reflected in our four strategic themes that outline how we seek to achieve our purpose as custodians of APH.

  • Respond to the changing needs of the Parliament
  • Enhance the Parliament’s engagement with the community
  • Effective stewardship of Australian Parliament House
  • Effective delivery of the Australian Parliament House works program

The diagram shows Outcome 1 of the Portfolio Budget Statement, which is to Support the functions of Parliament and parliamentarians through the provision of professional services, advice and facilities and maintain Australian Parliament House. The diagram shows the two programs to support Outcome 1. Program 1 is Parliamentary Services and Program 2 is Parliament House Works Program. The Corporate Plan strategic themes supporting Program 1 are: Respond to the changing needs of the Parliament; Enhance the Parliament’s engagement with the community; and Effective stewardship of Australian Parliament House. The Corporate Plan strategic theme supporting Program 2 is Effective Delivery of the Parliament House Works Program. The diagram shows the Corporate Plan strategic themes being supported by the Annual Performance Statement (Annual Report). The first Corporate Plan strategic theme, Respond to the changing needs of the Parliament, is supported when Parliamentary Library Service KPIs are achieved, Hansard Service KPIs are achieved, Building occupancy satisfaction with timeliness and quality of DPS services, and ICT Service Standards are achieved. These KPIs are reported in the Annual Performance Statement (Annual Report). The second Corporate Plan strategic theme, Enhance the Parliament’s engagement with the community, is measured by the number and type of visitor interactions, and visitor satisfaction with Australian Parliament House experience. These KPIs are reported in the Annual Performance Statement (Annual Report). The third Corporate Plan strategic theme, Effective stewardship of APH, is measured by design integrity performance, building condition rating, engineering systems condition rating, landscape condition rating and when security KPIs are achieved. These KPIs are reported in the Annual Performance Statement (Annual Report). The fourth Corporate Plan strategic theme, Effective delivery of the Parliament House Works program, is supported when Parliament House Works Program KPIs are achieved. These KPIs are reported in the Annual Performance Statement (Annual Report).
