Indonesian visit boosts parliamentary links

Community engagement focus of discussions

Staff of the Indonesian House of Representatives have visited the Australian Parliament to discuss ways in which community engagement with parliament can be encouraged.

Led by the Vice Secretary General of Indonesia’s House of Representatives, Mr Achmad Djuned, the delegation met with officials from the Department of the House of Representatives and the Department of Parliamentary Services, with discussions focusing on community engagement strategies employed by the Australian Parliament, media rules operating in the parliament and the broadcasting of parliamentary proceedings.

The visit helps to boost ties between the parliamentary administrations of the two countries, building on the exchanges that have taken place over several years between Indonesian and Australian parliamentarians.
