2024 House sittings commence

On Tuesday 6 February, the House of Representatives will begin the first sitting week of 2024. Here is a brief overview of what is planned to be debated, and how you can stay up to date during the week.

Government bills

This week, the House plans to resume debate on the following Government bills that have already been introduced (sometimes these plans may change throughout the week):

Address to Parliament

The Hon James Marape MP, Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, is expected to address assembled Members and Senators in the House of Representatives Chamber at 9.45am on Thursday 8 February. This will be first time a Pacific leader has addressed the Parliament and the first address to Parliament made by an international leader since His Excellency Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, addressed the Parliament on 31 March 2022.
