of the writ
Writs
must be returned within 100 days of issue.
Following the declaration of the result in a Senate election, the
Australian Electoral Officer for a state or territory certifies the names of
the candidates elected for the state or territory, and returns the writ and the
certificate to the Governor of the state or, in the case of the ACT and the Northern
Territory, to the Governor-General.
