Selection of Bills Committee report
The Senate adopted report no. 19 of the Selection of Bills Committee, and made the following references:
The Senate authorised the Education, Employment and Workplace Relations References Committee to hold a public meeting while the Senate was sitting on 30 November 2009 from 2.00 pm for the committee’s inquiry into the Primary Schools for the 21st Century program.
The Senate agreed that Senator Siewert replace Senator Hanson-Young on the Education, Employment and Workplace Relations Legislation Committee for the committee’s inquiry into Occupational Health and Safety and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2009, and appointed Senator Hanson-Young as a participating member.
A message from the House of Representatives was reported advising that Mr Kerr would replace Ms Vamvakinou on the Treaties Joint Committee.

Notice of motion to disallow given
The Chair of the Standing Committee on Regulations and Ordinances gave a notice or motion to disallow Marine Order No. 4 of 2009 – Part 28 – Operations Standards and Procedures – Issue 3, made under subsection 425(1AA) of the Navigation Act 1912 [homepage].
Valedictory speeches were made relating to the end of the 2009 sittings [first speaker].
The Senate will commence the autumn sittings on 2 February 2010.
