INQUIRY INTO THE HEALTH LEGISLATION AMENDMENT (MIDWIVES AND NURSE PRACTITIONERS) BILL 2009 AND TWO RELATED BILLS

INTERIM REPORT

The Committee has made progress with the Inquiry into the Health Legislation Amendment (Midwives and Nurse Practitioners) Bill 2009 and two related bills. Over 1880 submissions have been received and more are still being received. The Committee held a public hearing in Canberra on 6 August 2009.

Given the considerable interest that has been generated by the inquiry into these Bills, the Committee requires additional time to give favourable consideration to the evidence it has received.

The Committee intends to table its final report to the Senate on 17 August 2009.
