Inter-governmental organisations

  • Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)—a scientific intergovernmental body set up by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Its role is to assess on a comprehensive, objective, open and transparent basis the latest scientific, technical and socio-economic literature produced worldwide relevant to the understanding of the risk of human-induced climate change, its observed and projected impacts and options for adaptation and mitigation.

Special category of 'International Humanitarian Organisation':

Red Cross / Red Crescent Centre on Climate Change and Disaster Preparedness.

 

Non-governmental organisations

  • Climate Action Network—A global network of over 287–non-governmental organisations (NGOs) working to promote government and individual action to limit human-induced climate change to ecologically sustainable levels.
  • GLOBE—an international organisation of legislators from the European Union, Japan, the Russian Federation and the United States. GLOBE was founded in 1989 to enhance international cooperation between parliamentarians on global environmental issues.
  • The Climate Group an independent, nonprofit organisation dedicated to advancing business and government leadership on climate change and based in the UK, the USA and Australia.
