The Department is looking for people with well developed research, conceptual, analytical and writing skills and good communication and interpersonal skills who can work successfully as part of a small team. Relevant tertiary qualification or proven relevant skills gained through experience are required.
The duration of vacancies may range from a week to several months. Vacancies that are available for a period of longer than 12 months are advertised and a merit selection process is conducted. It is not possible to indicate when these vacancies may arise.
The employment register will be reviewed on a quarterly basis at the end of September, December, March and June, at which time applicants will be removed from the register. If you are still available and wish to be considered for future employment opportunities, you are required to re-register your interest by submitting an updated application each quarter. If at any time, details included on your application change, it would be appreciated if an updated version could be forwarded to recruitment.

The Department of the House of Representatives and the Department of the Senate are offering placements, for periods of three months, to graduates who have been accepted into existing Australian Government department and agency graduate programs. The Program is designed to give graduates exposure to the parliamentary departments' work in supporting the Parliament.
The skills and knowledge graduates obtain through the program will assist in building the foundation for career progression and professional development. We are looking for outstanding graduates from a range of disciplines who are highly motivated with sound research and analytical skills, effective communication skills and good people skills.
