Reporting
of proceedings
The Journals of the
Senate, signed by the Clerk and published, are the official record of the
proceedings of the Senate. The debates of the
Senate are recorded by the Parliamentary Reporting Staff and are published in
the transcript of debate known as Hansard. These
documents are further described below.
Proceedings may also be reported by the media. Fair and accurate
reports of proceedings are immune from suit for defamation (s. 10, Parliamentary
Privileges Act 1987).
